In collaboration with Munster Technological University, we provide migrant women with access to accredited, high-quality catering education that builds confidence and opens doors to employment.
Many migrant women arrive in Ireland with rich culinary skills, knowledge, and creativity, but without the formal qualifications recognised in the Irish labour market. Our training bridges that gap, helping women turn talent they already have into a recognised qualification and a real route into work.
We offer two pathways, so women can join at the level that's right for them.
Certificate in Culinary Skills — with MTU
In partnership with Munster Technological University, this is a one-year accredited course in professional cookery.
- Accredited by Munster Technological University
- Part-time: 4 mornings a week over one year
- Hands-on kitchen experience alongside essential training in food hygiene, health and safety, customer service, teamwork, and business skills
- 40 hours of professional work experiance
- New courses begin every January and September
Foundation in Catering Skills — with Cork Migrant Centre
A 12-week community course that gives women everything they need to work in a professional kitchen, and a supported stepping stone for anyone who chooses to progress to the accredited course.
- One morning a week over 12 weeks
- Core kitchen skills plus the certificates needed to work in a professional kitchen
- Hours of one-to-one and group coaching
- Help with CV writing and course applications
- Delivered in a welcoming, community-based setting at Cork Migrant Centre
- First course begins September 2026
A supportive place to learn
Both courses take place in an inclusive environment where women can learn, grow, and share their cultural heritage. Participants don’t just gain qualifications, they build friendships, confidence, and a sense of belonging.
Graduates are supported to move directly into paid employment, either within Sanctuary Catering itself or through our network of hospitality and community partners, so the training leads to real, lasting change.
